Paradise in Corfu-Oceanis Barbati

We booked to go to Corfu in September 2004. It was our wedding anniversary and we were looking for somewhere peaceful and not part of the rat race. Well we found it!!!. Oceanis Rooms in Barbati Corfu.

The view was just spectacular and the peace and tranquility was just what we were looking for. We were a group of four (two couples) looking for a peaceful holiday and that is exactly what we got. Hence we have been back each year since. (four times and a fifth visit is on the cards).

Each apartment has a balcony overlooking the sea with stunning views. We each had a double room, which was comfortable, 2 beds, kitchen and bathroom, cleaned on a regular basis. There are apartments for larger groups and families available. The pool is well maintained with free use of the loungers and parasols.

The owners Nikos and Illeana make everybody who visits their place feel welcome from day 1 and will do everything they can to please and make the holiday special for their guests. They certainly did that for us.

As this is a taverna they have an excellent menu with plenty of choice and they also cook local fish and greek cuisine. We have always had excellent meals, always hot, well presented and of good value. The local wine tastes good too! Well done Dimitri (Our Chef).

This year we were celebrating a 50th birthday, and another couple came to join us they too fell in love with Oceanis and could see why we keep returning. Nikos and Ileana did everything to make this a special day. (which they did) They arranged the evening and ordered a wonderful birthday cake. They went to Corfu Town to buy the cake nothing was too much trouble. ( a big thank you from Angela)

A wonderful young couple called Peter and Katrina who were helping out for the summer were so pleasant and helpful. Hope they are back next year when we visit.

If you do not want to cook you can also have breakfast taking in the early morning views watching the fishermen. Breakfast consists of coffee/tea, juice, bread and jam and something warm i.e. omelets, egg & bacon or ham & cheese toasts. Enough to keep you going until mid afternoon and then you can enjoy a greek salad and some local wine or more if you want it. Oh what memories!!

The walk to the main part of Barbati is about 15 minutes. This is a small resort and consists of a few restaurants and a couple of bars, there is also a few tavernas down on the beach, but the walk up takes some stamina (not recommended if you have participated in sampling the local brew of ouzo and metaxa).

Barbati beach does not get overcrowded. However, we have only visited in June and September so we cannot comment on the high season months of July and August. You can hire a small boat from the beach and go out for the day stopping at a couple of local beaches and have lunch. Nice way to see the coast line.

For a tranquil relaxing and friendly holiday you can't do better than Oceanis Rooms.

Thank you all for your hospitality and kindness.
See you all again next year!
